New room34/music launched

The newly revamped room34/music site is here! Which is not to say it’s finished. There’s still plenty to do, but since this site is now farther along than the one that preceded it, I decided it was time to flip the switch. Have a look around!

This site represents a fusion of my various interests, bringing my passion for making music together with my profession of web design and development. For the first time, room34/music is being powered by cms34, a CMS (content management system) I‘ve been developing for the past couple of years in my work as a freelance web consultant. It’s built on the open source CakePHP framework, and is currently in use by a number of my clients.

In the past this site has run on WordPress, and while I still wholeheartedly endorse WordPress (and use it myself for my blog sites), I‘m proud to say that cms34 has matured to the point where it is not only a suitable option for a site like this, but I personally feel it is better suited to the needs of a portfolio-type website than the more blog-oriented WordPress.
