Sleep is a sonic journey into, through, and out of the landscape of sleep and dreams. Work on the album began in November 2011 and continued through June 2012.
The final push to complete the album in June was inspired by a pencil drawing of “The Super Weird Face” by my son, Fletcher. I used that drawing as the basis for the cover art as well.
Instrumentation for the album includes acoustic and electric guitars, electric bass, clarinet, MIDI keyboards and percussion, iPhone and iPad, along with vocals on “Eyes Closed, Mind Awake.”
Musical influences on this album: M83, Boards of Canada, Kraftwerk, Röyksopp, Washed Out… with a little bit of Led Zeppelin, Brian Eno and George Clinton thrown in.
